So much organisational work is done mindlessly. We’re under so much pressure and working to deadlines – we don’t take the time to check that what we’re doing or how we’re doing it is the most effective approach. What? This questionnaire is meant as a quick and easy reflective exercise to help you review your performance as a manager.

Please reflect on how well you feel you are performing against each of the statements using the following scale:

1 = strongly agree: 2 = agree: 3 = disagree: 4 = strongly disagree:

a) I make sure that I am clear about how my project relates to my area/department strategy and to overall organisational strategy.question*

l) I encourage staff to find out the best ways of getting the job done and encourage them to try new ways of doing things.*

m) I support staff/team if they make a mistake, by helping them learn from it and by sharing responsibility.*

n) I manage and prioritise my own workload to use my time effectively.*

o) I make clear to my team why certain courses of action are taken.*

p) I encourage an open and honest exchange of ideas and communication within and between team members.*

q) I keep abreast of changes in technology/best practice etc and share that with the team.*

r) I make the time to listen to team members*

s) I deal with conflict in a timely way, treating team members fairly*

So what does all this mean?’…. Take time to consider where your strengths lie (highest score on questionnaire) and where you could usefully spend some time developing skills and behaviours. (lowest scores on questionnaires)
